Castello di Querceto, Cignale 2016

Flag of Italy

The castle of Querceto takes its name from the forest oaks which surround the old fortified walls. Nestled in the rolling hills of Tuscany, Castello di Querceto have been producing wines known for their elegance, quality and character for over 100 years. Cignale 2016 is the estate's top wine; a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot taken from a single vineyard, it is everything you want in a Super Tuscan. The grapes were hand-harvested and aged for a minimum of three years in oak and one year in bottle prior to release. Very intense ruby red, elegant and well structured. Bold notes of juicy black plum and blackcurrant combine with hints of tobacco, cedar and thyme. The palate is full-bodied, velvety tannins and a good level of acidity. Drinking well now but will continue to develop for the next 10-15 years.
